Food at Chevys

My friends took me to this place called Chevy’s and the food was soooo good. For starters, you get chips and salsa. And the meals are huge! This one that I shared with my bf is called the “Mixed Grill.”

All the best on one giant sizzling platter! Baby back ribs, tender mesquite-grilled chicken breast and skirt steak, juicy sautéed shrimp and
roasted garlic-herb veggies.

For dinner, we wanted to try this Mexican restaurant near our house called “Alberto’s.” Here’s a yummy carnitas taco from the place. :)

I made a big Mexican dinner for my boyfriend for his birthday! Here’s the recipe for spanish rice. ;)

1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) of butter or margarine
1 cup of uncooked rice
2 cups of water
1 Bay Leaf
1 dash of lemon salt pepper
1 fresh cut tomato
1 can of tomato sauce
1 spoon of minced galic
1/4 of an onion

In a saucepan, I put in the butter, then added the garlic and onions once it was somewhat melted. I then added the uncooked rice, tomotoes, and tomato sauce. Then poured in water, bay leaf, and the lemon salt pepper. Stir. And then let to boil. It’s a really simple dish. It takes about 30 minutes to cook. ^_^ Another spice you might think about adding is paprika. Too bad I didn’t have any. Enjoy the recipe, and let me know if you tried it.

I made this dish last weekend. There’s spanish rice, shredded beef, and avacado.

The spanish rice was fun to make, not to mention very easy! Here’s the receipe:

Cook rice.
In a frying pan, add oil, minced garlic, and onions.
Next add chopped tomatoes.
Wait til the onions are translucent, then add the rice and stir.
Slowly add half a can of chicken broth.
Then add in a can of tomato sauce.
Squeeze some fresh lime juice over the rice.
Cook until the broth is gone.
Then serve. :)
Add celantro to it if you like. Unfornately, I ran out. :(

For the avacados, add a bit of salt for flavor, although it’s not necessary.

Sunday nite, we had dinner at Wahoo’s Fish Tacos. I ordered combo #1 – Enchilada with green sauce. Yummy.

Tonight was my very first time ever trying tamales! I had one corn and one chicken… they were okay. Not bad, but I don’t see what everyone is raving about :)

Cooking Fajitas

I cooked Fajitas today! This is the meat, peppers, onions, etc. After I cook it, I put them on tortillas, and sprinkle cheese on top. Mmm…!

Tacos

There’s this place on campus that makes the best Carne Asada Tacos! They’re just yummy beef tacos, and I topped it off with cilantro. I love cilantro! They ran out of lettuce, so I piled on the cilantro. :)

I had the special combo at Rubios for lunch today. It came with a burrito (best I’ve ever tasted!), chips, rice, beans, and a drink. I subsituted the beans for rice which is why there’s two cups. ;)
